On April 12, Kyiv hosted the first “Medinsider Rehab 2.0” conference, which brought together leading rehabilitation doctors, physical therapists, HealthTech specialists, business representatives, and the public sector.
The VRNOW team had the honor of participating as an official partner and presenting our VR simulator for overcoming phantom pain and restoring motor functions.
This event was significant not only for us as a company but also for the entire field of rehabilitation medicine in Ukraine.
Key Trends Discussed at Rehab 2.0
- Technology as the Foundation of Modern Rehabilitation
Today, it is no longer enough to rely solely on traditional physical therapy methods.
In wartime conditions, as the number of patients with amputations, injuries, and neuromuscular disorders increases, innovative solutions are becoming critically necessary. VR technologies, sensory systems, and robotic simulators are no longer the future—they are already a reality in Ukrainian medicine. - Phantom Pain — A Global Challenge
According to international studies, over 80% of people after amputations experience phantom pain. Traditional treatments have limited effectiveness, while VR tools demonstrate significant reductions in pain intensity thanks to neuroplasticity mechanisms. Our VRNOW is an example of how technology becomes a therapeutic tool, not just a visual effect. - The Psychological Aspect of Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation is not only about physical exercises. Patients need motivation, confidence, and psychological support. The VRNOW virtual environment reduces anxiety and allows patients to feel in control of their bodies. This increases the effectiveness of all other therapy methods. - Systematic and Interdisciplinary Approach
Conference participants emphasized that for rehabilitation to work at the national level, a systemic approach is required. This includes training specialists, integrating new technologies into state treatment protocols, and fostering partnerships between clinics, businesses, and research centers.
VRNOW in the Spotlight of the Expert Community
Our presentation sparked strong interest among medical professionals. We introduced VRNOW as:
- a physical therapy tool for working with motor limitations;
- a method for reducing phantom pain, confirmed by clinical practice;
- a Ukrainian development adapted to the needs of our patients and healthcare system;
- a HealthTech platform capable of integrating with other data collection and monitoring systems.
Why This Matters Right Now
Ukraine is at a stage where the rehabilitation system must undergo a qualitative transformation.
The number of patients with combat-related injuries and amputations is growing, and our task is not just to treat but to do so faster, more effectively, and more accessibly.
VR technologies make it possible to:
- reduce the workload on doctors;
- provide patients with tools for independent training at home;
- lower the long-term cost of rehabilitation;
- scale assistance to regional centers without losing quality.
We are grateful to the conference organizers for creating a platform where medicine and technology meet to exchange experiences. For VRNOW, this event was yet another confirmation that Ukrainian innovations can shape a new paradigm of rehabilitation worldwide.
Our goal is to ensure that every soldier and civilian in need has access to modern recovery methods. And we are confident that together with the medical community and our partners, we can achieve this.
Rehab 2.0 proved one thing: the future of rehabilitation in Ukraine has already arrived. And VRNOW is part of that future.
