In June, the Lviv community launched the charity campaign “Good in Every Ride with Visa – A Path to Life Without Phantom Pain.” Its goal was to raise 1.1 million UAH to purchase our VRNOW simulator for the Unbroken Rehabilitation Center, where both military personnel and civilians injured during the war are treated.
We are delighted to share that the fundraising campaign has been successfully completed! The required amount has been collected — made possible thanks to the compassion of thousands of people who joined the initiative.
The organizers — LeoKart e-ticket, Visa, and dobro.ua platform — introduced a simple mechanism: every person who paid for public transport in Lviv with a Visa card via smartphone automatically contributed to the fundraiser. From each ride, 1 UAH was directed to support patients.
Thousands of Lviv residents and visitors joined in, and their everyday trips became part of a greater change.
Why Is Phantom Pain Such an Urgent Issue?
The war has brought Ukraine an unprecedented scale of injuries and amputations. Thousands of people experience phantom pain — the sensation of pain in an amputated limb. This is not just physical discomfort: it paralyzes life, hinders recovery, and damages mental health.
Traditional pain management methods often fail to deliver sufficient results, while long-term medication use poses health risks. This is where innovative technologies like VR are becoming a real breakthrough.
VRNOW — A Ukrainian Solution for Ukrainian Patients
VRNOW is the first VR simulator in Ukraine specifically designed for post-amputation rehabilitation and motor function recovery.
We developed it in collaboration with doctors and patients to ensure the technology works not in theory, but in practice.
Why VRNOW?
- Reprogramming the brain: thanks to VR simulations, the patient “sees” and “feels” the lost limb, which helps reduce phantom pain.
- Physical rehabilitation: the simulator allows patients to safely practice movements, gradually regaining control over their bodies.
- Psychological effect: immersion in the virtual world motivates, reduces anxiety, and restores confidence.
- Time efficiency: patients recover faster, while doctors gain a tool to track progress.
Today, VRNOW is already being used in Ukrainian clinics, and we see real results: people who just a few months ago couldn’t imagine life without pain are now returning to normal living.
Thank You to Everyone Who Contributed
This campaign proved: every small action matters. Paying for a single bus or tram ride became a step toward a greater goal — modern rehabilitation for those who need it most.
We sincerely thank our partners and everyone who made a contribution. Thanks to you, Unbroken patients will receive an innovative tool that will help them fight pain and return to a life without limits.
